The verse in Luke 15 which says “There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” has been my strongest motivation in wanting to reach the lost for Christ. To me, people without Christ are just like the prodigal son. My spiritual journey took a turn when I was a college freshman at the Western Institute of Technology (WIT) in Iloilo. One regular campus day, during a classroom evangelism, I heard the Gospel for the first time. It was our former campus editor-in chief, Arnaldo Ganaba, who gave the presentation. Now, a staff of PCCC and currently campus director of Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT), Kuya Arnaldo explained the Four Spiritual Laws during that presentation. At first, I was not interested. But because of Arnaldo’s perseverance and patience, I was won to Christ along with many of my friends, most of whom became the campus student leaders that time. For reasons I cannot totally explain, I became the Student Government president. I thought it was smart of Arnaldo to choose the leaders and influencers of our batch to be under his discipleship group. But from the time that I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior, things really began to change. I gained an eternal perspective which I didn’t have before. I shared the Gospel to my schoolmates, many of whom joined our discipleship groups, fellowships, and mission outreaches to many places. The years passed, my friends and batch mates at CPU and I went our separate ways. We pursued various career paths that led us to different places. But our shared passion has remained fervent as ever. We continue yearning to share the life changing Truth, the Word of God. Now I’m working in Davao City. God has given me the privilege of “discipling” eight young professionals from various fields and work places; some are engineers from the City Water District, the Power Company, a mall, one is a school director, two sales men, a bank manager, a businessman. Three of these have a group of their own. My constant longing is to actively communicate the love of God to everyone, especially to the young professionals in the market place. I envision a community of professionals and businessmen worshipping God through their chosen field of expertise where everyone is passionately involved in discipleship groups and consistently applying the biblical principles they have learned in their specific work places. I envision a community where everyone offers their work to the God and serves their fellowmen for the glory of God. by Charlo Deniega
